On the Loom & Leaf, the mattress also collapsed, but I could sit down and lie down without falling off the mattress, so the edge support wasn’t overall too bad. Also, I didn’t feel like I was going to roll off when I lay down. The Casper did collapse when I sat near the edge, but I felt secure enough to tie my shoes. On both mattresses, I did not feel fantastic edge support overall. If someone sleeps with a partner, another thing to consider is edge support, which basically answers the question of how much of the total surface area of the mattress can be used. The top layer combines latex and memory foam qualities, so it has a responsive, soft feel. The Casper has a balanced foam feel overall because of the way it is constructed. However, when I move to my stomach, the mattress is not firm enough for me, because my hips sink in too far. Side sleepers who like a firmer mattress might enjoy this as a result. On my side, I do feel that firmness at first, but it lessens after a few seconds. The foam conforms well to the body, and my hips sink in just the right amount. On the Loom & Leaf, I also feel well supported on my back. Moving to my stomach, I also feel well supported, my hips don’t sink in too far, and I feel properly aligned. Also, when I move to my side, the shoulder area is soft and pressure relieving. Also, the Loom & Leaf will feel firmer when people first lie down, and after a few moments, it will begin to soften.īecause of the zoned construction, the Casper feels great when I am on my back, as the mattress supports my hips and lumbar area quite well. The Casper features a zoned construction, so the mattress feels firmer in the hip area and softer underneath the shoulder area. There are two things to note, however that may affect this discussion. In terms of firmness, the Casper feels like a 6/10, and the Loom & Leaf feels like a 6.5/10. The thick layer of soft memory foam found on the Loom & Leaf gives the mattress a classic memory foam feel. The top layer of the Casper has a mix of latex and memory foam qualities, which gives the mattress a more balanced foam feel.This ensures that someone’s hips are properly supported, and that they feel little pressure on their shoulders. As a result the mattress will feel firmer under the hips and softer under the shoulders. The Casper’s transition layer is zoned, so it is firmer in the center third of the mattress.They shouldn’t bottom out on the Loom & Leaf and should also get the support they need. The Loom & Leaf has a thick comfort layer and is thicker than the Casper overall, which means it should be a better choice for heavier people.This also means it could be a longer-lasting mattress and potentially a better investment over time. Because of this, it could be more durable than the Casper mattress.
